Eating Habits of the Chronically Lonesome, the first book from Megan Gail Coles, was nominated for the 2014 BMO Winterset Award alongside Alan Doyle and Michael Crummey. Published by LPG member Creative Book Publishing, Eating Habits is a collection of short stories about characters who reveal their inner turmoil through their starvation, hunger, and consumption.
The Winterset Award is given out annually by the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council to celebrate excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador writing. Books of any genre are considered and this year the jury of Mark Callanan, John Crosbie, and Marie Wadden had 26 entries to evaluate.
The finalists will read and answer questions on Wednesday March 25th at The Rooms in St. John's at a public reception. The winner will be announced at Government House on Thursday March 26th. To find out more about the award visit the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council website.
Congratulations Megan and Creative!
