The longlist for the 2011 literary contest Canada Reads has been released! The CBC, which runs the contest, changed things up this year by asking listeners to send in their vote on what they consider the most essential Canadian novel of the past decade. They received votes for over 400 titles across several genres, cutting it down to a Top 40.
You can go to the CBC website to cast your vote now! You only get one vote, so choose wisely... may we offer you a few suggestions (nudge, nudge... wink, wink!):
The Bone Cage by Angie Abdou, published by NeWest Press
Elle by Douglas Glover, published by Goose Lane Editions
The Girls Who Saw Everything by Sean Dixon, published by Coach House Books
Moody Food by Ray Robertson, published by Biblioasis
Shelf Monkey by Corey Redekop, published by ECW Press
Voting continues until November 7th, with finalists announced on November 9th. Good luck to all of our LPG publishers and their authors! To see the complete Top 40 list, visit the CBC website.
