The Alcuin Society recently revealed the winners of the 31st annual Alcuin Society Awards for Excellence in Book Design. The winning books will be exhibited at several international events in the coming months and the awards will be presented this fall.

The Porcupine's Quill, received an honourable mention in the pictorial category for Out of the Wood by Rosemary Kilbourn (designed by Tim Inkster).
Gaspereau Press, received first and second prize in the poetry category for Handful of Bone by Monica Kidd and Black by George Elliot Clarke, respectively (both designed by Andrew Steeves); a first prize in the prose fiction category for Love and the Mess We're In by Stephen Marche (designed by Andrew Steeves); and a second prize (tie) in the prose non-fiction category for Lazy Bastardism: Essays & Reviews on Contemporary Poetry by Carmine Starnino (designed by Andrew Steeves).
Pedlar Press, received third prize (tie) in the poetry category for Post-Apothecary by Sandra Ridley (designed by Zab Design & Typography).
Nightwood Editions, received third prize (tie) in the poetry category for Wedding in Fire Country by Darren Bifford (designed by Carleton Wilson).
BookThug, received an honourable mention in the poetry category for Form of Forms by Mark Goldstein (designed ny Mark Goldstein).
Coach House Books, received and honourable mention in the prose fiction category for Maidenhead by Tamara Faith Berger (designed by Ingrid Paulson & Alana Wilcox).
