April 19, 2010. Last week in Nova Scotia, the 2010 Atlantic Books Awards were given out at a sold out awards ceremony. While it is definitely nice to just be nominated, we wanted to offer our extra congratulations to our publishers and their authors who took home some hardware at the end of the night.

SS Atlantic: The White Star Line's First Disaster at Sea by Greg Cochkanoff & Bob Chaulk (Goose Lane Editions) was a double winner, taking home both the Democracy 250 Atlantic Books Award for Historical Writing and the Dartmouth Book Award for Non-fiction.

Tonja Gunvaldsen Klaassen won the Atlantic Poetry Prize for Lean-To (Gaspereau Press) and Mike Holmes won the Mayor's Award for Excellence in Book Illustration for This American Drive: An Illustrated Road Trip (Invisible Publishing).

David A Francis & Robert M. Leavitt (A Passamaquoddy-Maliseet Dictionary, Goose Lane Editions) and Trudy J. Morgan-Cole (By the Rivers of Brooklyn, Breakwater Books) were both runners-up for the APMA Best Altantic-Published Book Award.
