Heritage Toronto recently announced the 2011 nominees for the slate of awards they have been giving out for the last thirty-seven years. The different awards all have one thing in common -- recipients all work to promote and conserve Toronto's history and heritage. This includes the book awards, which highlights works of non-fiction from the previous year that are not only well-written but explore Toronto's history and heritage in an archaeological, built, cultural, and/or natural sense.
We're very please this year to have three books nominated:
Therafields: The Rise and Fall of Lea Hindley-Smith's Psychoanalytic Commune by Grant Goodbrand, published by ECW Press,
Imagining Toronto by Amy Lavender Harris, published by Mansfield Press, and
Stroll: Psychogeographic Walking Tours of Toronto by Shawn Micallef, published by Coach House Books and Eye Weekly.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday October 4th at a ceremony at the Royal Conservatory of Music. For full details visit Heritage Toronto.
