The nominees for this year's Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize were recently released and we're so excited to see The Tinsmith by Tim Bowling on the list. This prize recognizes Canadian writers of the year's best novel or short story collection.

The Tinsmith, published by LPG member Brindle & Glass, follows medical surgeon Anson Baird. While tending the wounded during the Battle of Antietam a mysterious soldier named John comes to his aid, creating an intense bond between the two men. Twenty years later on the Fraser River in British Columbia, Anson must come to the aid of John, who is mysteriously absent, an apparent victim of the questionable business ethics of the pioneer salmon canners.

The winner will be announced during the Writers' Trust Awards event on November 7th. To view a full list of this year's nominees, please visit the Writers' Trust website.
