Nominees for the 2012 City of Vancouver Book Award were recently announced. The award recognizes authors and their works that contribute to the understanding of Vancouver's history, character, and achievements of its people.

Congratulations to Claudia Cornwall and Mother Tongue Publishing for the nomination of At the World's Edge: Curt Lang's Vancouver, 1937 - 1998. The book tells the story of an intellectual and a catalyst who was a legend in Vancouver. In his lifetime Lang was a poet and painter, a street photographer, a fisherman, and an entrepreneur in the tech and railroad industries. His life parallels the evolving history of Vancouver from the hip subculture years to the electronic post modern 1990s.

The winner of this year's award will be announced on September 20th at the Mayor's Arts Awards gala. For a list of all the nominees please visit the City of Vancouver website.
